You Can Vote and Branch Politics Team Up with Ballot Builder
In an exciting move to boost voter education, You Can Vote has joined forces with Branch Politics to roll out Ballot Builder, a cutting-edge, nonpartisan voting tool, just in time for the 2024 election cycle.
Why This Matters
You Can Vote is on a mission to increase voter registration and turnout, especially among those who face barriers to participating fully in our democracy. One major hurdle for many young voters is the lack of clear, unbiased information about candidates. This gap often leaves them unsure and hesitant when it comes to casting their votes.
"Our most common question while canvassing is, ‘Who's running?’” says Jennifer Thomas, Data & Field Director for You Can Vote. “Young people, in particular, fear making the wrong choice, especially in local nonpartisan races that appear at the end of the ballot.”

How Ballot Builder Helps
Starting this August, voters can visit youcanvote.org/vote, enter their address, and get a personalized preview of their ballot. Ballot Builder provides detailed information on each office and the candidates running, along with their stances on key issues.
"Voter education is crucial. Everyone should know what the offices on their ballot do and how they affect our lives,” says Kate Fellman, Executive Director of You Can Vote. “Partnering with Ballot Builder allows us to offer these essential educational tools alongside detailed candidate information, helping NC voters easily identify the candidates and issues that matter most to them."
Thanks to Ballot Builder’s technology and research team, You Can Vote will be able to provide this resource to voters without much additional strain on their team. The Ballot Builder team takes care of researching all of the candidates and providing the interactive voter guide.
Ballot Builder has already made a significant impact, reaching over 80,000 voters this year and helping them navigate their ballots with confidence. With North Carolina now on the list of states offering these tailored, nonpartisan educational tools, even more voters can benefit from this initiative.
For more information about Ballot Builder or to arrange interviews with the leaders behind this initiative, contact Kate Fellman at kate@youcanvote.org or Walter Ley at walter@branch.chat.
